FOIA Request to Iosco County Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025.

On February 5, 2025, we at North Michigan News submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Iosco County Election Division. The request was made as part of our ongoing commitment to provide comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs.

The FOIA request specifically sought records of all candidates running in the upcoming election. The information requested included the candidates' first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; the jurisdiction of that office; and their party affiliation.

In addition to these details, we also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

As a media organization, North Michigan News believes in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional.

We await a response from the Iosco County Election Division and will continue our efforts to keep the public informed about this important upcoming election.
