A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Presque Isle County Election Division on February 5, 2025. The request, sent by North Michigan News, sought comprehensive details about all candidates running in the upcoming spring election.
As part of our commitment to providing accurate and comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs, we requested specific information about each candidate. This included their first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation.
In addition to these details, we also asked for all contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization dedicated to transparency and accountability in public institutions, we believe access to such public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information to the public, we have requested a fee waiver as a media professional.
