FOIA Request Sent to Roscommon County Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted to the Roscommon County Election Division in Michigan on February 5, 2025. The request, made by North Michigan News, seeks comprehensive details about all candidates running in the upcoming spring election.

As a news organization dedicated to providing accurate and thorough coverage of local governmental affairs, we at North Michigan News believe that access to public records is vital for our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and ensuring transparency for the public.

The specific information requested includes not only the full names of all candidates but also the offices they are running for and their respective jurisdictions. Additionally, we have asked for details regarding each candidate's party affiliation.

In order to facilitate direct communication with these candidates and further our reporting capabilities, we have also requested contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.

We firmly believe that as a media organization engaged in gathering and disseminating news to the public, we should be eligible for a fee waiver under the FOIA provisions. We eagerly await a response from the Roscommon County Election Division as we continue our commitment to provide comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs.
