The Northern Michigan women's basketball team secured a victory against the Saginaw Valley State Cardinals with a decisive 11-0 run in the fourth quarter, ending the game at 69-59. The match was closely contested until NMU's late surge held the Cardinals scoreless from 6:20 to 1:46 of the final quarter.

NMU showcased their best shooting performance this season, hitting 58.1% from the field and 55.6% from beyond the arc. Jacy Weisbrod led NMU with 23 points on 61.5% shooting, while Sarah Newcomer added 11 points. All ten Wildcats players contributed to the score sheet.

Despite committing 21 turnovers, NMU's defense was effective as they limited SVSU to making fewer shots despite taking more attempts. SVSU capitalized on turnovers but struggled offensively overall.

Weisbrod made an impact early by scoring NMU's first two shots and reaching double figures in the first quarter. The Wildcats maintained a narrow lead through most of the game, entering halftime up by four points.

In a tense second half, CJ Romero started strong for NMU with a three-pointer before SVSU took their first lead during a scoring run. However, NMU responded decisively in the fourth quarter when tied at 53-53, with Sydney Whitehouse igniting an important offensive streak that sealed their win.

The victory improves NMU's record to 15-6 overall and 9-4 in GLIAC play. They remain one game behind Ferris State and tied for third place with Wayne State ahead of their upcoming match against Wayne State in Detroit.
