FOIA Request to Roscommon County Election Division Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

North Michigan News, a media organization committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has sent a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the Roscommon County Election Division. The request seeks access to pre-election test reports for election voting machines under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq.

The records requested are expected to provide detailed information about each voting machine's pre-election test. The specific fields we have asked for include the test date, machine manufacturer, machine model number, and the status of the machine - whether it passed or failed the test.

As members of North Michigan News, we believe in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Access to these records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we have requested a fee waiver as media professionals.

We will continue to keep you updated as we await a response from the Roscommon County Election Division regarding this request.
