FOIA Request to Montmorency County Election Division Regarding Pre-Election Voting Machine Test Reports on October 30, 2024.

As part of our commitment to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we at North Michigan News have sent a request under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq., to the Montmorency County Election Division. The request is for records pertaining to the pre-election testing of voting machines.

Specifically, we are seeking access to electronic copies of these reports in PDF format with detailed information including the test date, machine manufacturer, machine model number, and machine status (whether it passed or failed the test).

Access to public records is essential for us at North Michigan News as it enables us to fulfill our professional responsibilities which include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
