NMU announces second annual summer soccer tournaments in Marquette

The Northern Michigan University (NMU) men's and women's soccer programs have announced the return of their annual summer tournaments in Marquette. The events include a 6v6 co-ed adult tournament and a 3v3 youth tournament, scheduled for July 13-14, 2024, at the Wright Street Soccer fields.

"We couldn't be more excited for year two of our summer 3v3 tournament," said women's soccer head coach Jon Sandoval. "Last year was a huge success and we had a great community turnout. We expect an even bigger turnout this year, so make sure you sign up your squad today!"

Both tournaments will take place over two days, offering guaranteed games with additional matches possible through playoffs and championships. The adult tournament is open to participants aged 18 and over, while the youth tournament includes multiple age brackets.

"After a successful year one and the return of our annual Dome tournament this past winter, the NMU soccer programs can't wait for our next edition of the 3v3 and 6v6 tournaments," stated men's head coach Alex Fatovic. "With expanded game times and more teams than last year, we expect this to be a fun event for the community along with being competitive. I also personally look forward to defending our adult division title," he added with a laugh.

Teams interested in participating can register by contacting Chance Vang at cvang@nmu.edu. The registration fee is $250 per team, with roster limits set at nine players for adults and six players for youth teams.

Schedules will be provided two weeks before the tournaments begin. Participants are required to complete waivers prior to participation and provide shirt sizes for each team member.

For further information or questions about registration, contact Chance Vang via email.
