The NMU women's golf team finished its final regular season tournament today, securing 13th place at the ODU NC4K Classic in Grove City, Ohio. The team managed to rise three spots with a two-day score of +126.
Ferris State clinched the team title with a score of +32, followed by Grand Valley at +42 and Gannon at +50.
Maddy Martens led the 'Cats with a two-day score of +24, finishing 42nd overall. Starting on hole 12 and ending on hole two, she shot +5 in her final nine holes with a birdie on the par-four first. Martens posted a +12 in the second round, marking the second-best score for the team and moving up five positions.
Maggie Pietila, the second-best player for NMU, finished 48th overall with a score of +26. She began on hole 13 and ended on hole three, shooting +7 in the final segment and shaving six strokes off her first-round total, moving up 17 positions.
Hailey Bolander finished the tournament at +29, placing 55th overall. She started on hole 13 and completed the second round at +19. Abbie Pietila closed the team's scoring with a second-round 92 (+20), ending just one stroke behind Bolander.
Payton Dube and Gabriella Moreau both started on hole ten and finished on hole two, completing the rounds in 11 holes and ranking fifth and sixth on the team at 93rd and 94th overall. Abby Luke, competing individually, finished 89th after moving up six places.
The team now prepares for the GLIAC Championship at Stonehedge North in Augusta, Michigan, from April 25 to April 27.
