The Northern Michigan University (NMU) lacrosse team is preparing for its final two regular-season road games this weekend against Grand Valley State and Davenport. The Wildcats are coming off a mixed weekend in Minnesota, having lost a conference match to Concordia-St. Paul before defeating Concordia-St. Benedict.

NMU, with an overall record of 8-5 and 2-2 in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), will face the Lakers, who are leading the conference with a 9-3 record and a perfect 4-0 in league play. The game against Grand Valley State is scheduled for Friday, April 11, at 5 PM in Allendale. Following this, NMU will travel to Grand Rapids to take on the Panthers of Davenport on Sunday, April 13, at noon. Both matches will be available for streaming on FloLive.

The Wildcats' standout player is sophomore Josie Lakosky, who leads the conference in several categories, including goals, points, and shots per game. She is also ranked nationally in goals and shots per game. NMU holds top rankings within the conference in areas such as clearing percentage and draw controls per game.

NMU has yet to defeat Grand Valley State in previous encounters, while they have a five-game winning streak against Davenport. The Lakers are ranked No. 22 in the IWLCA poll and No. 15 in the USA Lacrosse poll. Ashleigh Rothe is a leading player for Grand Valley, standing out in points and goals within the conference.

Davenport is coming off a recent victory and will be celebrating Senior Day during their game against NMU. They are led by top scorers Blakely Malpass and Maddy Haynes, with Theadora Krueger excelling in caused turnovers. The Panthers have not yet won against NMU in their last five meetings.
