State Representative Cam Cavitt has called on the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) to comply with federal directives that prohibit biological males from participating in female sports. Cavitt, along with 17 other House Republicans, sent a letter to MHSAA demanding immediate action.

Cavitt stated, "State officials at MHSAA must be confused because President Trump didn’t ask their opinion when he ordered them to protect girls’ sports. He was loud and clear: Michigan is prohibited from allowing biological males to compete against our female athletes." He emphasized the responsibility of MHSAA to adhere to this order and safeguard the integrity of female athletics.

The letter highlighted concerns that non-compliance by MHSAA could result in federal funding being cut. Cavitt expressed the urgency of compliance, citing numerous accounts from female athletes about men participating in their events as a significant issue.

Cavitt further commented, "I don’t care how infrequently our girls are forced to compete against biological males; one time is too many." He underscored the achievements of high school and college athletes in Michigan's female sports and argued it would be unfair for these accomplishments to be overshadowed by male competitors. Cavitt added his desire for a future where his granddaughters can participate in sports without concerns about safety or fairness. He affirmed that House Republicans will continue advocating for this cause until changes are implemented.
