NORTHBOROUGH, MASS. – The IWLCA has announced its 2024 Academic Honor Squad and Academic Honor Roll recognitions for the 2023/24 season, with the Wildcats earning team and individual recognition for the second consecutive season.

The IWLCA named 324 schools across Division I, II, III, and NAIA as IWLCA Academic Honor Squads for the 2023-24 academic year. To qualify for this honor, the women's lacrosse team must have posted a 3.2 or higher team GPA for the academic year.

"Success is measured in many ways for a student-athlete, but this is one that should be highly celebrated," says head coach Lindsey (LeMay) Majkrzak. "I'm so proud of this group for their academic accomplishments and how they have pushed Northern Michigan Lacrosse as a whole to be our best in the classroom. We had one of our highest cumulative GPAs as a team in 2023/24, and that success comes in part from the example set by the honor roll selections."

Along with the team earning the overall academic honor squad distinction, eight athletes from NMU earned academic honor squad distinctions. Overall, the IWLCA honored 524 student-athletes from 72 different institutions on the 2023 IWLCA Division II Academic Honor Roll. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.50 or greater.

Those earning individual honors this season are as listed below:

Norah Bates, JR, Engineering Technologies

Minnie Bittell, SR, Spanish/Public Relations

Kaitlyn Bridger, SR, Nursing

Dayna Carlson, JR, Environmental Science

Clara Johnson, SR, Multimedia Journalism/Biology

Lindsey Locke, JR, Spanish/International Studies

Taylor Priestley, JR, Secondary Education

Jane Taylor, SR, Earth Science

This marks the second consecutive season the Wildcats have earned the Academic Honor Squad recognition and five or more athletes making the honor squad. The quartet of Bittell, Bridger, Johnson and Taylor are all earning their second straight honor squad distinction.
