The Northern Michigan University Women's Golf team is preparing for the upcoming Flyer Spring Invite, which will be hosted by Lewis University at the Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois. The tournament will run from March 31 to April 1.

Cantigny Golf Club, a renowned public course, features 27 holes across three distinct nine-hole courses: Lakeside, Woodside, and Hillside. The club, which gained recognition as one of the nation's top public courses after opening in 1989, has hosted prestigious events like the Illinois State Amateur Championship and the U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship.

The challenges for the golfers include the Lakeside course's water hazards, Woodside's dense tree lines, and Hillside's elevation changes and bunkers. Weather conditions are expected to be cool and breezy, adding an extra layer of difficulty. On Monday, March 31, the forecast predicts cloudy skies with temperatures between 48°F and 31°F, while Tuesday, April 1, will see highs of 47°F and lows of 41°F. Wind gusts might affect play, particularly in exposed areas.

Previously, the Wildcats participated in the SVSU Women's Spring Invitational, which was canceled midway due to inclement weather. Despite this, notable performances came from Abbie Pietila and Maggie Pietila, both finishing at +7 through 13 holes. Hailey Bolander and Maddy Martens also performed well, with +10 scores when play was halted. The team was tied for sixth among 13 teams, indicating consistent performance.
