State Rep. Ken Borton is encouraging small businesses impacted by the warm weather to seek federal assistance through the Small Business Administration (SBA). Borton, representing 42 counties in Michigan, highlighted the financial struggles faced by businesses in the region due to the lack of snowfall this winter.

“Northern Michigan has a vibrant tourism economy that relies on snowfall for different outdoor recreational activities. The complete lack of snow this year has left many folks with very little income. I’d encourage anyone affected by this warm winter weather to apply for assistance,” said Borton.

Businesses in the affected counties can apply for Federal Economic Injury Disaster Loans to mitigate the financial challenges brought about by the ongoing drought conditions. To obtain more information and apply for assistance, interested parties can contact the SBA Disaster Assistance Customer Service Center at 800-659-2955 or via email at [email protected].
