State Senator Edward W. McBroom | Michigan House Republicans
State Senator Ed McBroom and Representative Dave Prestin will be hosting a town hall meeting on Tuesday, December 19th at Bay College in Escanaba, Michigan. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the recently signed energy reforms that require Michigan to have a 100% clean energy standard by 2040.
McBroom, who represents Waucedah Township, expressed the importance of the town hall meeting, stating, "There has been a huge amount of public interest regarding the newly signed energy bills, sometimes called Michigan's Green New Deal. We are hosting this town hall meeting to help outline the new laws and our concerns about them and to discuss the impact of the reforms on our energy, environment, economy, property rights, and local governments. Everyone is welcome to attend and participate."
The meeting will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. in Room 952 of the Joseph Heirman University Center at Bay College. No reservation is required, and doors will open at 4 p.m.
Representative Prestin, who represents Cedar River, expressed concerns about the new energy mandate, stating, "The new energy mandate will make living and working in the U.P. even harder while doing nothing to reduce costs and increase reliability. I encourage folks to come out and hear about what they can expect under the new laws and give their opinion on what their Legislature needs to do to help them and meet their energy needs."
For those who are unable to attend the meeting but still wish to express their opinions on the energy bills, they may contact Senator McBroom's office via email, phone, or mail. McBroom's contact information is as follows: [email protected], toll-free at 855-347-8038, or at Sen. Ed McBroom, P.O. Box 30036, Lansing, MI 48909.
Other state legislators from the Upper Peninsula may also be in attendance and can be reached through their publicly listed office email and phone numbers.
The town hall meeting provides an opportunity for the community to engage in a discussion about the new energy reforms and their potential impact on various aspects of life in Michigan. It allows residents to express their opinions and concerns while also gaining a better understanding of the laws and their implications.
This town hall meeting is an important step in ensuring that the voices of the community are heard and that their concerns are taken into account as the state moves forward with its clean energy goals.
