FOIA Request to Grand Traverse County Election Division Regarding Voting Machines Testing Report on October 30, 2024.
We at North Michigan News have submitted a request under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq., for access to records pertaining to the pre-election testing of voting machines. The request specifically asks for the test reports in PDF format with details such as the test date, machine manufacture, machine model number, and machine status (pass or fail).
As a media organization dedicated to comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, we believe that access to these public records is crucial in fulfilling our professional responsibilities. These include holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency to the public.
In line with our role in disseminating information, we have also requested a fee waiver as a media professional. We await the response from the Grand Traverse County Election Division and will keep our readers updated on any developments.
