State Representative Cam Cavitt recently welcomed Jenna Carigon, an 11th-grade honor roll student from Atlanta High School, to the State Capitol in Lansing. Carigon earned this unique opportunity by emerging victorious in a local art contest hosted by Cavitt. Her winning submission was a painting of an elk, symbolizing the essence of Northeast Michigan. The choice of subject was particularly apt as Atlanta is known as the Elk Capitol of Michigan.
Cavitt expressed his delight at welcoming Jenna and her family to Lansing for the day. "Jenna’s painting was truly impressive and really embodied how a lot of people view Northeast Michigan. It’s great to see young people from our community with such talent. She is a remarkable individual with a bright future ahead of her," said Cavitt, R-Cheboygan.
Carigon spends her leisure time reading the Bible and participating in worship activities at the Evangelical Free Church in Gaylord. She has been employed at Garland Resort in Lewiston for two years, acquiring valuable experience and skills during this period. Crafting with her Grandma Carol is another activity that brings her joy.
