State Representative Cam Cavitt is offering a part-time, paid internship in his Lansing office for the spring 2025 semester. The opportunity is open to students from Northeast Michigan, who are encouraged to apply.
The intern will work with Cavitt, R-Cheboygan, representing Michigan’s 106th House District. Responsibilities include assisting with legislative duties and constituent relations to support residents of Northeast Michigan.
“A legislative internship in our state Capitol is a great way to learn about state government and serve people,” Cavitt stated. “I especially encourage Northeast Michiganders to apply for this paid opportunity to gain career experience. My staff and I look forward to having additional help as we serve the people of our region.”
The position offers $15 per hour. Candidates should ideally be recent high school graduates, college students, veterans, or individuals seeking experience in the Michigan Legislature. Applicants with a positive attitude, office experience, proficiency in Microsoft Office, telephone skills, and strong writing abilities are preferred. Knowledge of the legislative process is beneficial but not necessary.
The internship schedule is flexible but generally runs from Tuesday through Thursday when the House is in session. Some travel to the district may be required, and applicants must be able to commute to Lansing.
Applications are due by Friday, November 22, at 5 p.m., and résumés should be sent to [email protected].
