Today, March 19th, is National Agriculture Day, a day dedicated to honoring the hard work of those in the agricultural industry. In light of this day, Rep. Jack Bergman has renewed his call for Congress to pass legislation that would prevent the Communist Chinese Party from buying American farmland.
In February 2023, Rep. Bergman, along with Rep. Dan Newhouse, introduced the Prohibition of Agricultural Land for the People’s Republic of China Act, aiming to block the purchase of agricultural land in the U.S. by individuals associated with the Chinese government. Bergman emphasized the importance of safeguarding American farmland and food supply chain from potential threats like the CCP.
"This agricultural takeover must be stopped," emphasized Rep. Bergman during his advocacy for the legislation.
This week, Rep. Bergman is engaging with Michigan Agriculture leaders to discuss the challenges faced by the agriculture industry. He is actively involved in supporting H.R. 7035, the Death Tax Repeal Act, which aims to repeal the death tax, enabling farms to remain within families without burdensome taxation that could hinder younger generations from pursuing farming careers.
