Speeding Vehicles - A Message from Chief Robinson

With summer coming to a close and the start of the school year on the horizon I wanted to take a moment to remind drivers to pay attention to your speed, especially through our residential neighborhoods and school zones. Over the last few months, we have seen an increase in speeding vehicles throughout the city. It’s important to be aware that the speed limit in residential neighborhoods and school zones is 25mph.

Speeding through these areas won’t get you to your destination noticeably faster than going the speed limit, you may save a couple of seconds, but that’s it. When you speed through residential neighborhoods you put others at risk, especially children.

Please be aware that we do have officers patrolling the entire City, including our residential neighborhoods and we do enforce the speed limit.

We want everyone to enjoy everything the City of Rockford has to offer, but we also want everyone to travel through it safely.

Stay Safe,

Dave Robinson

Chief of Public Safety
