City of Alpena issued the following announcement on Sept. 18
After two hours of discussion on Monday, September 16, the Alpena City Council narrowed their search for a new City Manager from twelve to six. The City received 39 applications for the position. Mayor Waligora said, “City Council and I were very pleased to have such an exceptional pool of candidates to select from. We truly appreciate all 39 candidates for showing interest in this position and Alpena.” The six finalists are as follows: DDA/PSD Director City of Harbor Springs Rachel R. Smolinski, Former City Manager for the City of West Branch Heather Grace, City of Alpena Clerk/ Treasurer/Finance Director Anna M. Soik, City of Alpena Planning and Development Director Adam E. Poll, Assistant to the President Woodlands Township, Texas Karen T. DempseyHoran, and Gladwin City Manager Christopher J. Shannon. Interviews will take much of the day and are scheduled for Saturday, October 5 beginning at 9:00 a.m. in Council Chambers. Full details will be released at a later date along with details of a meet and greet of the candidates on Friday, October 4 from 5:30 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Aplex.
