The Northern Michigan Wildcats women's volleyball team secured a decisive 3-0 victory over the Ashland Eagles at the Midwest Region Crossover in Hammond, Indiana. The match concluded in just over an hour, with set scores of 25-19, 25-21, and 25-13.

Madison York led the Wildcats with a career-high 15 kills and a .481 attack percentage, pacing the team in kills for each set. The Wildcats achieved a .285 team hitting percentage, their highest of the season, and recorded 49 total kills—also a season best for a three-set match. This was their highest kill count in a three-set contest since reaching 50 against Lake Superior State on September 30, 2023.

The team also matched its season high with nine service aces. Kaylie McIntosh and Liesl Haugen each served three aces, while Taylor Smaka added two. McIntosh contributed 10 kills, Haugen had 10 digs, and Allie Barlow recorded 10 digs along with 38 assists.

"I am proud of the team for a great bounce back today," said assistant coach Kamryn Duffield. "This match was by far the best as we executed our serve and pass game which gave us the ability to run a more dynamic offense. It was a great all-around victory for the 'Cats!"

The win marks Northern Michigan's eighth sweep of Ashland in 35 all-time meetings, but it is their first sweep of the Eagles in the last 23 encounters dating back to 2003.

With this result, Northern Michigan improves to an 8-11 overall record and 5-2 in GLIAC play as they prepare to host Grand Valley State and Wayne State on October 24 and 25. Ashland falls to 11-8 overall and did not win a set during the tournament.
