Ylitalo and Annala lead NMU men’s golf to seventh place at DU Panther Invite

The Northern Michigan University men's golf team concluded its participation in the DU Panther Invite in Augusta, Michigan, finishing seventh out of 12 teams. The Wildcats improved their performance in the second round, reducing their score by ten strokes and recording a +20 for the day.

Harvey Ylitalo and Tyler Annala led the team, each posting a two-day total of +11. Both players finished just outside the top 30 individually. Ylitalo showed notable improvement on the second day, cutting seven strokes from his first-round score to finish with a +2 (73). He started strong with three birdies and four pars in his opening eight holes and shot -2 (33) on the back nine. Annala also had a productive stretch on the back nine, shooting -1 over five holes and birdieing the par-five 16th.

Brady Badker played as an individual competitor. He finished with a +11 after opening with a +2 in his first round, making nine pars and ranking as the third-best Wildcat at the event.

Jacob Daavettila and Levi Pennala both completed their tournaments at +14. On the final day, they carded rounds of +5 and +6 respectively. Each birdied the par-four 12th hole, while Daavettila added another birdie on the par-five 16th.

Arthur Ylitalo rounded out NMU's lineup with a second-round score of +9 for a two-day total of +23.

The Wildcats have now completed their fall schedule and will resume play in the spring season. Updates on scheduling will be available through NMU Athletics' website and social media channels.
