The Northern Michigan University men's golf team is set to conclude its fall season at the Panther Invitational in Augusta, Michigan. The event, hosted by Davenport University, will take place at Stoatin Brae Country Club from October 11 to October 12.

Competing teams include several GLIAC opponents such as UW Parkside, Davenport, and Purdue Northwest. Other participating programs from the Midwest region are Ohio Dominican, Lewis University, and Kentucky Wesleyan. The tournament features teams with notable regional and national rankings based on the final 2024 standings.

Stoatin Brae Country Club is recognized for its open layout and panoramic views. The course measures 6,742 yards with a par of 71.

Weather forecasts for Augusta predict sunny skies and temperatures around 70 degrees Fahrenheit for both days of competition. Winds are expected to remain below 10 miles per hour and no precipitation is anticipated during the tournament.

Looking back at their previous competition, senior Tyler Annala delivered a standout performance at the Flyer Fall Intercollegiate. Annala finished as a co-tournament champion after 54 holes before finishing second in a playoff. He recorded ten birdies over three rounds and his total score of 221 is now the tenth-best in NMU program history.

Other NMU team members at that event included Levi Pennala (T44), Brady Badker (T46), Arthur Ylitalo (T48), and Harvey Ylitalo (T57). NMU finished eighth out of fifteen teams overall.

At last year's Panther Invitational, NMU placed seventh among twelve teams. The Wildcats improved their score on the second day and were led by Badker and Arthur Ylitalo, who finished 24th and 27th respectively.

In addition to team performance notes, updates are provided for other teams in the field:

- Purdue Northwest has had varied results this fall, with their best finish being tenth at the Lewis Fall Invite.

- Parkside won the Flyer Invitational recently and had strong individual performances from Shane Stanley and Aleck Simms.

- Davenport secured first place at the Chicago State Windy City Invitational last week with top finishes from Chen-Shiuan Wu and Justin Grimard.

- Lewis University has seen top-ten finishes this season from Gabriel Delaval and Jann Atendido.

- Ohio Dominican's Chase Forsyth tied for third at their opening event, recording sixteen birdies and a hole-in-one.

- Kentucky Wesleyan saw Jonathan Kaminski and Ben Carter tie for fourth at their season opener.
