Rep. Jack Bergman, a U.S. Congressman representing Michigan’s 1st district since 2017, addressed the recent assassination of conservative commentator Charlie Kirk and expressed concern over increasing political violence in the United States through a series of posts on his social media account.
On September 10, 2025, Bergman posted: "Please pray for Charlie Kirk and his young family.
Solving political differences through violence has no place in our Nation and these instances are becoming far too frequent.
We must do better."
Later that evening, he followed up with another post highlighting the impact of Kirk’s death: "This afternoon, the world watched one of the leading forces of conservatism and free speech get assassinated. Charlie Kirk articulated conservative views to younger generations clearer than anyone.

Shortly after midnight on September 11, Bergman criticized media coverage related to the incident: "What MSDNC did today is disgusting and surprisingly, a new low.
I’ll be reaching out to FCC Commissioner Brendan Carr tomorrow."
Bergman's comments come amid heightened tensions following high-profile acts of political violence in the United States. He reiterated calls for civility and condemned attempts to resolve ideological disagreements through violent means.
Bergman, who was born in Shakopee, Minnesota in 1947 and currently resides in Watersmeet, has served as a congressional representative since replacing Dan Benishek in 2017. He holds degrees from Gustavus Adolphus College (BA) and the University of West Florida.
