Northern Michigan volleyball falls to West Florida at SpringHill Suites Invitational

The Northern Michigan Wildcats women's volleyball team concluded their participation in the SpringHill Suites Invitational with a loss to West Florida on Saturday in Pensacola. The match ended in straight sets, with scores of 9-25, 16-25, and 17-25.

West Florida posted a hitting percentage of .312 compared to Northern Michigan's -.035. Emilia Gulock and Madison York led the Wildcats with four kills each. Gulock also contributed 2.5 blocks out of the team's total of six. Kaylin Johnson led West Florida with 10 kills.

During the first set, West Florida went on a 13-point run, leading to a decisive 25-9 win. Gulock and Bakke combined for two blocks during this set.

In the second set, West Florida started strong with a 5-0 lead, but Northern Michigan responded with a three-point run to narrow the score to 9-7. The Wildcats managed to keep the deficit close several times before West Florida closed out the set by scoring the final six points for a 25-16 victory.

The Argos maintained control in the third set and secured the match by winning it 25-17.

The Wildcats will continue their season next weekend at the Huskies Volleyball Classic hosted by St. Cloud State in Minnesota. Their first match is scheduled for Thursday, September 11, at 4 p.m. ET.
