Northern Michigan University has announced the addition of Emily Mueller as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team for the 2025-26 season. The hiring was confirmed by head coach Casey Thousand.

Mueller is returning to Northern Michigan after spending two years as a graduate assistant coach at William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri, where she worked on practice planning, player development, and game strategy. During her time there, she also focused on scouting and analyzing game footage while pursuing a Master’s degree in Athletic Administration.

"We are thrilled to welcome Emily back to NMU," said Thousand. "Emily brings high energy, a true eagerness to learn, and valuable collegiate coaching experience that will leave a lasting mark on our program!"

Mueller completed her undergraduate studies at Northern Michigan University in December 2022 with a degree in Secondary Health and Physical Education. In 2022, she interned with the women’s basketball coaching staff and coached the freshmen team at Marquette Senior High School.

As a player from 2018 to 2022, Mueller served as team captain during her final two seasons. She appeared in 91 games and recorded 375 points and 341 rebounds. She was also Vice President of the NMU Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for three years.
