FOIA Request to Alpena Community College regarding recent course syllabi on August 6, 2025.

North Michigan News has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to Alpena Community College. The request seeks access to a complete list of course syllabi for all undergraduate and graduate courses offered during the Spring 2025 semester. This includes syllabi from all departments, schools, and colleges at the institution, regardless of whether the courses were delivered in-person, online, or through hybrid formats.

The request specifically asks for relevant metadata accompanying each syllabus. This metadata should include the course title and number, instructor name, department or academic unit, and the course delivery format. The requester emphasizes that this information is sought in an electronic format to facilitate ease of access and analysis.

As part of their commitment to transparency and accountability in public institutions, North Michigan News highlights its role as a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs. They also note their affiliation with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that supports media companies in investigating government actions through FOIA requests. More information about this coalition can be found on their website: https://stopsecrecy.org/about/.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
