State Representative Ken Borton, a Republican from Gaylord, presented a state tribute to Loki, a Michigan State Police canine who is retiring after eight years of service. The tribute also honored Trooper Adam Whited, Loki’s handler.

Borton praised Loki’s contributions during his career with the Michigan State Police. “The work that Loki has done during his 982 calls, including locating missing seniors and children, detecting narcotics, and tracking innumerable suspects, has surely been felt by the entire community,” Borton wrote in the tribute. “In the eight years since Loki joined the Michigan State Police (MSP), his training, demeanor, performance, and obedience have made Houghton Lake a safer place to live, work, and raise a family. We also want to make sure we thank Trooper Whited for the dedication, patience, and care he has shown Loki, who is surely one of the most important and unsung heroes of the Michigan State Police family.”

Loki’s work included responding to nearly one thousand calls for service involving searches for missing persons as well as efforts in narcotics detection and suspect apprehension. His efforts were focused on Houghton Lake and surrounding communities.

A photo marking this occasion was provided by Rep. Borton’s office.
