Ben Johnson, head coach of the Northern Michigan University (NMU) golf team, has announced the hiring of Tom Gemignani as assistant golf coach. Gemignani will join the Wildcats on a full-time basis for the 2025-26 season after working part-time with the team during the previous year.

"We are really looking forward to Tom being a part of our team," said Johnson. "He brings a very unique set of skills, and I believe our entire team will benefit and learn from him as we continue to grow and move in the right direction."

Gemignani is recognized for his expertise in sports psychology, which Johnson believes will be valuable for the team's development. "[Tom] really helps our athletes with the mental side of the game and how to approach it, which is going to be extremely beneficial," Johnson added.

Gemignani's first official day as assistant coach is scheduled for August 1, 2025. The Wildcats women's golf team is set to begin their 2025-26 season at Saginaw Country Club for the Cardinal Cup, hosted by Saginaw Valley State University, on September 8 and 9 in Saginaw, Michigan.
