Matt Majkrzak, head coach of the Northern Michigan Men's Basketball team, has announced the addition of Charlie Miller from the transfer portal. Miller transfers to Northern Michigan after spending three seasons at the University of Northern Iowa (UNI), a Division I program in the Missouri Valley Conference.

During his last two seasons at UNI, Miller played in 24 games, scoring 17 points and maintaining a shooting percentage of 45% from beyond the arc. His career-high was five points against Northern Illinois. He also earned several spots on the Missouri Valley Conference Honor Roll list.

"Charlie was the perfect fit for us out of the portal," said Majkrzak. "With 10 freshmen on next year's roster, it was important for us to bring in a guard with college experience to be a great leader, on top of a key contributor. His background as a coach's son and grandson, combined with his three years at Northern Iowa, fits our needs perfectly. Charlie fits the NMU guard DNA and is very unselfish and willing to make the right play. He's a big-time shot maker that we can use in ball screens or running off the ball. He's a winner who can help us keep competing for conference championships."

In high school, Miller was recognized as an All-Conference guard twice while playing for Lumberton High School in North Carolina. During his senior year in 2020-21, he helped lead his team to the North Carolina Class 4A State Final Four. He averaged 16.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game that season and received First Team All-Region and Third Team All-State honors.

Miller is part of an incoming class that includes seven freshmen: Nathan Fife, Pryce Gregoire, Keller Hanson, Brooks Hinson, Andrew Murphy, Trevor Polite, and Ross Robertson. This group features three guards, two forwards, and two wings who collectively scored over 12,000 career high school points.
