The Northern Michigan University (NMU) hockey team has released its schedule for the 2025/26 season. The Wildcats will play a total of 16 home games, 18 road games, and eight non-conference match-ups before entering the Mason Cup Playoffs on March 6, 2025.
The season kicks off with NMU facing Hockey East's University of Massachusetts on October 4 and 5. This marks the Wildcats' first visit to Mullins Center. Previously, NMU defeated UMass in their only meeting at the Mariucci Classic in December 1999.
Following this, NMU will travel to Ohio State for games on October 10 and 11. The Buckeyes concluded last season ranked No. 11 nationally with a record of 24-14-2.
The Wildcats will then return home to host Colorado College after starting the season with four away games. Colorado College was ranked No. 12 last year but ended receiving votes with an overall record of 18-18-1.
Michigan State Spartans will visit NMU on October 24 and 25 to close out the non-conference schedule. Last season, Michigan State spent much time as the top-ranked team before finishing sixth with a record of 26-7-4.
The conference schedule includes seven road games among the first ten Central Collegiate Hockey Association (CCHA) match-ups for NMU. The 'Cats start by visiting Augustana on October 31 and November 1 and then face Michigan Tech in a home-and-home series on November 7 and 8.
December features two series: one against Bowling Green on December 5 and another hosting St. Thomas on December 12 before winter recess begins.
January sees several consecutive match-ups concluding three-season series: welcoming Augustana from January 9 to January10, playing Michigan Tech again from January23 to January24, and hosting Bemidji State from January30 to January31.
February includes three series as NMU winds down its regular season; they meet Ferris State only once during February13–14 before returning home against Lake Superior State later that month while ending at Mankato between February27–28.
March heralds Mason Cup Playoffs beginning quarterfinals scheduled across March6–8 followed by semifinals occurring March14 leading up towards championship day slated upon March20th
