Northern Michigan University has appointed Adam Wilson as the new head coach for the Women's Wrestling program. This announcement was made by NMU Athletic Director Rick Comley, marking a significant step as the Wildcats enter their fifth season in 2025-26.

"We are thrilled to welcome Adam as the new head coach of our women's wrestling program," stated Comley. "Adam brings a wealth of experience, a deep passion for the sport, and a proven commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the mat. As we continue to build a competitive and empowering program, we are confident that Adam will be an inspiring leader and a tremendous asset to our athletic department. We look forward to the future of women's wrestling under his leadership and are excited for what's ahead."

Wilson's background includes four years at Albion College in southern Michigan, where he held positions as Director of Wrestling and Head Women's Wrestling Coach. He expressed gratitude for his new role, saying, "I want to thank the team of Rick Comley, Robin Burke, Mike Kaurala, and Holly Warchock for this opportunity to lead the Northern Michigan Women's Wrestling team." He further added that NMU offers strong academic opportunities and is committed to excellence in athletics.

At Albion College, Wilson played a key role in reinstating Men's Wrestling after 40 years and established the Women's Wrestling program in 2020. His coaching achievements include guiding 10 First Team All-Conference wrestlers, 32 NWCA Scholar All-Americans, 41 regional placewinners, and 18 national qualifiers.

Since June 2016, Wilson has also been involved with Michigan USA Wrestling as National Teams Director. His responsibilities include overseeing over 250 athletes annually across various age groups and managing team selection procedures.

Wilson's earlier coaching experiences include serving as Head Assistant Wrestling Coach at Olivet College from 2016-20 and working with teams at Trine University and Washington and Lee University. As a collegiate wrestler at Olivet College from 2007-11, he earned multiple accolades including two-time Mid States Conference Champion.

In addition to his coaching career, Wilson holds several certifications such as National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Leadership Academy Graduate and USA Wrestling Bronze Certification. He is also recognized as Virginia USA Wrestling "Person of the Year" and is inducted into Harper Creek High School Athletic Hall of Fame.

Wilson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Science from Olivet College in 2011 followed by a Master's degree in Higher Education Administration from Upper Iowa in 2014. His teaching experience includes instructing Health and Human Performance courses at Olivet College.
