NMU Wildcats face Golden Bears in the GLIAC lacrosse championship showdown

The NMU lacrosse team is headed to Allendale, Michigan, this weekend for the GLIAC championship. The event runs from Friday, May 2, to Sunday, May 4, with the No. 3 Wildcats, holding a 10-7 record, set to compete against the No. 2 Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears, who stand at 9-7. This marks the third consecutive time the teams face off in the first round of the GLIAC championships.

Their match is scheduled for Friday, May 2, at 7 PM at the GVSU Lacrosse/Track & Field Stadium, hosted by Grand Valley State. Earlier that day, the No. 1 Lakers, with a record of 13-3, will play against the No. 4 Davenport Panthers at 4 PM. The winners of each matchup will compete for the conference's postseason title on Sunday, May 4, at noon ET.

Historically, NMU has a notable record against the Golden Bears, with a streak of 10-2 dating back to 2021, and currently holding a 2-0 against them in the GLIAC tournament. During the regular season, the Wildcats split their series with CSP, losing an away game at St. Paul but clinching a victory at home. Key player Josie Lakosky has been pivotal, scoring seven goals and eight points across two games against CSP this season.
