Northern Michigan University (NMU) Athletics will kick off the week with a series of events for their Track and Field and Lacrosse teams, scheduled from April 30 to May 4. These competitions are crucial for the NMU teams as they look to make their mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

The week begins with Track and Field athletes competing in the GLIAC Championship, starting Wednesday, April 30, in Allendale, Michigan. The heptathlon is set to start at 2 p.m. and will feature four events on the first day.

On Thursday, May 1, the final three events of the heptathlon will commence at 9 a.m. Races and field events are scheduled to begin in the afternoon. The track races start at 2:30 p.m., with field events at 3 p.m.

The GLIAC Championship continues on Friday, May 2, with field events at 10 a.m. and track races at 11:10 a.m., highlighting a full day of competition.

Simultaneously, the NMU Lacrosse team will compete in the GLIAC Semifinals on Friday at 7 p.m. The Wildcats face Concordia-St. Paul at the GVSU Lacrosse Stadium in Allendale, Michigan. This match marks their third consecutive year against Concordia-St. Paul in the first round of the GLIAC Championship. NMU has split the season series with Concordia-St. Paul and holds a 2-0 postseason record against the Golden Bears over the past two seasons.

The week concludes on Sunday, May 4, with the GLIAC Lacrosse Championship scheduled for 12 p.m. at the GVSU Lacrosse Stadium. Should the Wildcats secure a win on Friday, they will face off against the victor of the GVSU vs. DU game for the championship title.

The upcoming events present a significant opportunity for NMU athletes to demonstrate their sporting prowess and aim for victory in their respective championships.
