The NMU lacrosse team suffered a defeat at the hands of the Davenport Panthers, losing their final regular-season road game 11-9. The match, held in Grand Rapids, saw the Wildcats led by Josie Lakosky, who scored six goals, contributing significantly to her team’s efforts. Her performance included a season-high of 14 shots and 11 shots on goal.

Other contributors to NMU's score included Emily Radke, Katelyn Wozney, and Laine Stanton, with Taylor Priestley providing the sole assist. In terms of goalkeeping, Lauren Esposito and Zoe Montgomery shared duties, making a total of seven saves in the match. However, the Wildcats were hampered by committing 17 turnovers.

Davenport, on the other hand, benefited from a standout performance by Blakely Malpass, who scored four goals, bolstering the Panthers' offensive prowess. Their goalkeeper, Zoe Cassell, tied her career-high with nine saves from 18 shots on target. Theadora Krueger made a significant defensive contribution with five caused turnovers. The Panthers also excelled with 21 successful clears, a season-high for the team.

This result marked an end to NMU's five-game winning streak against the Panthers. For the first time since NMU's previous loss to Davenport in April 2022, the Panthers led at halftime. NMU managed to score three goals in the first half but conceded six to their opponents.

The Wildcats attempted a comeback in the second half but were unable to close the gap. They now prepare to return home for the final two regular-season games, beginning with a matchup against the Saginaw Valley Cardinals.
