Four athletes from the Northern Michigan University (NMU) men's swim and dive team have been recognized as College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District honorees. The athletes, Leo Nolles, Daniel Khmara, Tobie Stiles, and William LaCount, have qualified to advance to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.
"To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically, must have competed in five competitions or finish in the top eight at a conference meet," the statement detailed. Additionally, undergraduate student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 GPA on a 4.0 scale, whereas graduate student-athletes must uphold the same GPA criteria both as undergraduates and graduates unless they are in their first semester as graduate students without an established GPA.
Leo Nolles, a junior majoring in Athletic Coaching, holds a GPA of 3.69. His achievements include being named the 2025 GLIAC Swimmer of the Year and earning multiple medals at national competitions. Nolles also competed in the 2024 Paris Olympics for Uruguay.
William LaCount, a junior with a 3.87 GPA, collected honors including a silver medal at the 2025 NCAA championship and is a previous CSC Academic All-America and All-District recipient.
Junior Tobie Stiles, studying Marketing with a 3.82 GPA, has received accolades as a second-team All-American in diving events and was named the 2023 GLIAC Diver of the Year.
Daniel Khmara, with a 3.79 GPA in Information Assurance, has secured several All-America honors and a series of medal finishes at national and conference championships.
Each athlete's performance both academically and athletically contributes to their ongoing success as student-athletes.
