NMU women's golf team positioned eighth at Flyer Invite's first round

The NMU women's golf team has taken the eighth position out of 12 teams after the first round of the Flyer Spring Invite in Wheaton, Illinois. NMU completed the opening round with a score of 345 (+57). Drury University leads with 319 (+31), followed by Davenport at 322 (+34) and Quincy at 323 (+35).

Maggie Pietila led NMU, shooting an 82 (+10), which is nine strokes behind the leader Elaine Grant from Illinois-Springfield, who hit a 73 (+1). Pietila began on the seventh hole, and although she was five over after the first six holes, she managed a birdie on the par-three 13th, helping to keep her score competitive.

Abbie Pietila, also contributing to the team's score, completed the round with an 87 (+15). She started her day shortly after Maggie Pietila on the same hole. Hailey Bolander and Payton Dube each scored 88 (+16), with Bolander achieving one of the team's three birdies on the par-four 10th. Maddy Martens finished with an 89 (+17), rounding out the team score.

Competing as an individual, Gabriella Moreau recorded a 95 (+23), marking a personal birdie on the par-three 17th.
