NMU athletics roundup: skiing, lacrosse, and track events recap

Northern Michigan University (NMU) saw a competitive weekend on multiple sports fronts between March 26 and March 30, 2025.

In women's Nordic skiing, Victoria Dybwad finished 19th overall and 9th among collegiate athletes in the 10k Freestyle. Henriette Nilssen came in 20th overall, securing the 10th position among college competitors, and Jordan Parent completed the event in 39th place. For the men's team, Luke Fricker finished 48th and was 17th among his collegiate peers. Other participants included Adrik Kraftson, Kristoffer Karsrud, and Jonathan Clarke.

The SuperTour Finals Sprint event on March 28 saw Nilssen and teammate Richter competing in the same quarterfinal heat for the women's team, with Nilssen finishing 25th in qualifying. For the men, Karsrud was the standout, finishing 12th in qualifying and advancing to the finals as the only collegiate skier in the top six.

NMU's lacrosse team played against Davenport on Friday, securing a 9-6 victory led by Lakosky, who contributed three goals and one assist.

On Saturday, the Nordic skiing mixed relay event saw NMU teams finishing 10th and 15th overall. The Outdoor Track and Field team secured second place in the Redbird Challenge, with notable wins by seniors in three events. Skylar Grubb, Crystal Walker, and Ahna Larson claimed victories in their respective races.

In the Men's Nordic Ski's 40k Mass Start on Sunday, Kraftson finished 17th overall, followed by teammates Karsrud, Clarke, and Fricker. On the women's side, Nilssen and Richter took 23rd and 25th places, respectively.

The lacrosse team faced No. 17/16 Grand Valley State, losing in overtime after initially leading. Lakosky again stood out with six goals against their opposition.
