The NMU women's nordic ski team saw two of its members advance to the quarterfinals in the sprint events during the SuperTour Finals held in Lake Placid, New York. Henriette Nilssen and Merle Richter were among the 75 skiers, from both professional and collegiate backgrounds, who competed in the event.
Nilssen secured a 25th place finish in the qualifying round with a time of 3:17.08 and was closely followed by Richter in 26th place, recording a time of 3:17.88. Both skiers ranked 11th and 12th respectively among collegiate participants.
During the third quarterfinal heat, Nilssen completed her run in 3:17.68, finishing fifth, while Richter completed in 3:27.41, placing sixth. Two other NMU athletes, Victoria Dybwad and Jordan Parent, did not make it past the top-30 cut, finishing 33rd and 43rd respectively.
Currently, Nilssen ranks 37th overall with 35 SuperTour points. Dybwad holds the 80th position with two points, and Parent is in 84th with one point.
The NMU team is now preparing for tomorrow's mixed 4 x 5k relay event, which is set to begin at 10 a.m. at Mt. Van Hoevenberg.
