The Northern Michigan University (NMU) women's lacrosse team faced a tough match against the University of Indianapolis, ranked ninth nationally. The game ended with a decisive 18-3 victory for Indianapolis.
The Wildcats, now standing at 5-3 overall, managed to score three goals in the first half but were unable to add to their tally in the second half. In contrast, the Greyhounds scored ten unanswered goals during this period. NMU's Taylor Priestley contributed with a goal and an assist, while Josie Lakosky and Maddi Bast each added a goal.
In goal for NMU, Zoe Montgomery started and made seven saves from 18 shots. Lauren Esposito also played, saving two out of nine shots on target. For Indianapolis, Sage Da Silva and Olivia Bladon led the scoring with five goals each. Goalkeeper Ava Graham stopped five of eight shots on goal.
The Greyhounds dominated statistically as well, outshooting NMU 33-11 with more shots on target and ground balls collected. They committed fewer turnovers than NMU and forced several turnovers themselves.
Looking ahead, the Wildcats are set to face Saginaw Valley on Sunday at University Center in Michigan.
