The SVSU Men's Spring Invitational in Lexington, Kentucky, was cut short due to adverse weather conditions. The competition, initially set to span multiple days, saw its opening round halted after teams completed between eight and eleven holes.
Tournament officials decided to cancel the remainder of the event on Sunday morning as the unfavorable weather persisted. At the time of cancellation, the team standings placed McKendree at +5 in first place, followed by Kentucky State at +6 and Davenport at +8. The 'Cats were positioned ninth among 17 teams with a score of +14.
Among individual performances, Arthur Ylitalo began his round on the back nine and maintained a score of -1 with one birdie and eight pars before recording a bogey just prior to cancellation. Other team members included Tyler Annala at +3, Walter Ylitalo at +5, Levi Pennala at +6, and Russel Sprecher who finished with a score of +8. Competing independently, Kyle Maki recorded a score of +4 over 11 holes.
Looking forward, NMU will participate in the Flyer Spring Invite scheduled for March 31 to April 1 at Cantigny Golf Club in Wheaton, Illinois.
