Northern Michigan University has appointed Erin Egolf as the new head coach for its women's soccer program. Athletic director Rick Comley announced the decision, expressing enthusiasm about Egolf's appointment. "We are thrilled to welcome Coach Egolf as the new head coach of our women's soccer program," Comley stated. He praised her passion for the game and commitment to student-athlete development.
Egolf joins NMU after serving as an assistant coach at Illinois State in 2024, where she previously played as a starting central midfielder and was recognized on the 2009 MVC All-Freshman Team. Reflecting on her new role, Egolf said, "I am honored and delighted to become the next Head Women's Soccer Coach at Northern Michigan University." She expressed gratitude towards Rick Comley, Robin Burke, and others involved in her hiring process.
During her tenure with Illinois State, the team achieved significant success by securing a spot in the MVC Tournament for the first time since 2020-21 and achieving a historic win over UNI. "It is clear to me that NMU is a wonderful place," Egolf remarked about her new position. She looks forward to building on the existing culture of excellence within NMU's women's soccer program.
Egolf's previous experience includes nine seasons as head coach at the University of Springfield (UIS), where she became the winningest coach in UIS history with a record of 53-66-19. Her leadership led UIS to three GLVC tournament berths in recent years. Additionally, she served as Assistant Athletic Director at UIS from October 2023 and contributed significantly across various roles within athletics administration.
Her coaching career has been marked by mentoring talented athletes who received numerous accolades both on and off the field. Under her guidance, teams consistently maintained high academic standards alongside athletic achievements.
Egolf’s own playing career was distinguished by multiple honors including All-Time Career Goals Leader and All-Time Career Points Leader during her time at UIS.
