In a commanding performance, the Northern Michigan women's basketball team defeated the Roosevelt Lakers 90-52 in Chicago on Monday night. The Wildcats led from start to finish, marking one of their most dominant games in recent years.

Northern Michigan's offensive output was notable, with the team scoring 90 points, surpassing their season average of 64.9 points per game. This marked their highest score since a game against Lake Superior State in January 2019. Additionally, the 38-point victory matched their largest margin of victory this season.

The Wildcats set new season-highs with 27 assists, 13 steals, and 33 field goals made. It was Northern's first time recording more than 13 steals in over a decade and the first time achieving such a high number of assists in two decades.

The game started strong for Northern Michigan with an initial 8-0 run that set the tone for their dominance throughout. They outscored Roosevelt by a wide margin in every quarter and particularly excelled in the second half with a scoreline of 56-27 while shooting nearly 60% from the field overall.

Sarah Newcomer led Northern Michigan's efforts with a personal contribution of 20 points, including five three-pointers made mostly during the first half. Jacy Weisbrod added another impressive performance with 16 points alongside contributions from Alyssa Hill and Sydney Whitehouse who scored in double figures as well.

Mackenzie Holzwart facilitated much of Northern’s offense by delivering seven assists while Abi Fraaza followed closely behind with five assists. CJ Romero also stood out defensively leading her team by securing three steals.

Following this win against Roosevelt Lakers on Monday night, NMU improved its overall record to nineteen wins against seven losses placing them tied for second place within GLIAC standings alongside Ferris State at thirteen wins versus five losses each respectively; they now have an opportunity to clinch home-court advantage going into postseason play if they secure one more victory over remaining matches scheduled ahead facing off next Thursday February twenty-seventh Parkside before concluding regular-season action Saturday March first away match Purdue Northwest University.
