The NMU hockey team concluded its 2024/2025 home schedule with a narrow 4-3 loss to St. Thomas in Marquette, Michigan. The Wildcats, with a record of 5-26-1 overall and 4-19-1 in the CCHA, entered the third period trailing by three goals. However, goals from Jakob Peterson and Matthew Argentina brought them within one goal. Despite St. Thomas taking a late penalty, NMU could not capitalize to equalize.

On Senior Night, senior alternate captain Jesse Tucker contributed significantly with a goal and an assist. Ryan Ouellette made 30 saves, while Jakub Lewandowski had two shots and one block.

Next weekend, the Wildcats will travel to Big Rapids to face Bob Daniels and his Bulldogs as Daniels concludes his career as head coach.

The game began with Malmquist scoring for the Tommies just four minutes into play. They extended their lead with another goal from O'Neill on a power play and further increased it after capitalizing on a defensive turnover.

NMU's first goal came from Tucker during a power play in the second period. However, St. Thomas responded before the period ended with Wahlin redirecting a shot past Ouellette.

Peterson scored for NMU early in the third period following a power play opportunity, narrowing the gap further. Shortly after, Argentina scored again for NMU to make it 4-3 but they were unable to find an equalizer before time ran out.
