The Northern Michigan women's lacrosse team secured a decisive victory over the UW-Stout Blue Devils with an 18-1 win, marking their second consecutive win to start the 2025 season. Thirteen Wildcats players contributed at least one goal in this comprehensive team effort.
Emily Radke, Taylor Roberts, Sophie Langsdale, Avery Lorinser, and Laine Stanton each scored twice. Meanwhile, Josie Lakosky, Camryn Mayer, and Taylor Priestley recorded both a goal and an assist. This significant margin of victory was the largest for NMU since last season's game against College of Saint Benedict.
The Wildcats' defensive prowess was on display as they allowed only one goal, a feat achieved only three times in the program's history. The previous instances were against Concordia-Ann Arbor in 2023 and Northland in 2017.
NMU dominated statistically by outshooting UW-Stout 28-8 and leading in ground balls with an 18-8 advantage while causing 12 turnovers compared to four by their opponents. Annabelle Johnson and Taylor Priestley stood out defensively with two ground balls and two caused turnovers each.
Looking ahead, NMU is set to play against Wisconsin La Crosse at home next Saturday at noon from the Superior Dome.
In detail: Abby Sissan opened the scoring within the first half-minute of play. Shortly after, Taylor Priestley scored followed by contributions from several other players that pushed NMU ahead early on. By halftime, they had extended their lead to 14-0 with continuous pressure on UW-Stout throughout the match.
In the final quarter of play, despite hopes for a shut-out game from NMU’s side, UW-Stout managed to score their sole goal in the last ten seconds. The match concluded with an overwhelming scoreline favoring Northern Michigan at 18-1.
