The Northern Michigan University men's basketball team secured a decisive victory against Saginaw Valley State University, winning 82-68 on Thursday night. This marks the Wildcats' third consecutive win by double digits.

The game was closely contested until the Wildcats launched a significant offensive push with just over 12 minutes remaining. A 21-3 run allowed them to take control and secure the win without ever trailing in the contest.

Jackson Dudek led Northern Michigan's balanced attack with 16 points, hitting six of nine shots from the field and two of three from beyond the arc. Since joining the starting lineup three games ago, Dudek has been averaging 15 points per game while maintaining an impressive shooting percentage of 79.2%.

Sam Privet and Dylan Kuehl each contributed 13 points, helping NMU's starting forwards account for a substantial portion of their team's scoring early in the game. Derek Merwick added another dozen points, while Cal Klesmit chipped in with ten.

Northern Michigan shot 50.9% from the field overall, making it their sixth game this season where they have hit at least half of their shots. In contrast, Saginaw Valley State shot only 40.4%. The Wildcats also dominated in rebounding with a 37-27 advantage; Gerald Gittens Jr., one of NMU's guards, matched his career-high by pulling down nine rebounds.

Early in the game, NMU quickly established an advantage by leading 8-2 within just over a minute and a half into play. Dudek scored five quick points including an "and-one" play before Privet followed up with a corner three-pointer.

Despite Northern Michigan's strong start and building an early lead as large as fourteen points (23-9), Saginaw Valley managed to narrow it down to one point late into halftime (32-31). However, NMU held onto its lead going into intermission at four points ahead (38-34).
