Nmu swim team hosts senior day meet against lake superior state

The Northern Michigan University (NMU) swim and dive team will conclude its 2024-25 home schedule this Saturday by hosting Lake Superior State for a senior day event at the PEIF Pool in Marquette. The Wildcats will honor 18 seniors, comprising ten women and eight men, during the meet scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. on February 8. Attendance is free for fans, who can also view the event on FloSwimming.

This meeting marks a historic first encounter between NMU and Lake Superior State's men's and women's swim and dive teams, as the Lakers are competing in their inaugural season. Erik Richardson leads LSSU as head coach after serving two years in the same role at Division III Olivet University.

Saturday's skins meet represents the final competition before the postseason begins with the GLIAC Championships in Holland, Michigan, from February 19 to February 22.

The graduating seniors being celebrated include:

Women: Alyssa Bloser, Becca Burrows, Camilla Carbone, Zoe DeKievit, Donna Hannig, Abbie Harned, Ella Houwers, Jillian McKinley, Vanessa Steigauf, Mia Strazny.

Men: Patrick Andrews, Daniel Lopez Aponte, Wyatt Dickman, Kyle Griswold, Javier Pena Reyes, Logan Robillard, James Werwie, Martin Wolmarans.

Head Coach Heidi Voigt provided insights during her mid-week media availability.
