FOIA Request to Alcona County Election Division Regarding Upcoming Election Candidates on February 5, 2025. As a team at North Michigan News, we are committed to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs. To ensure transparency and hold public institutions accountable, we have requested the following records under the Michigan Freedom of Information Act § 15.231 et seq., preferably in electronic format:
A comprehensive list of all candidates running for the upcoming election in Alcona County. The information sought includes candidates' first, middle, and last names; the office they are running for; jurisdiction of the office; and party affiliation.
In addition to this, we have also requested all contact information for each candidate. This includes their address, phone number, and email address.
As a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, access to public records is essential for us to fulfill our professional responsibilities. Given our role in disseminating information, we believe we are eligible for a fee waiver as media professionals.
We await a positive response from the Alcona County Election Division as this information will greatly assist us in providing detailed coverage of the upcoming elections to our readers.
