Northern Michigan University (NMU) athletics teams are gearing up for a busy weekend with several competitions scheduled from February 6 to February 8, 2025.

On Thursday, February 6, the women's basketball team will face Saginaw Valley at 5:30 PM. In their previous encounter, NMU led early but eventually lost to the Cardinals due to strong shooting from beyond the arc. The men's basketball team will also compete against Saginaw Valley at 7:30 PM. In their last matchup, NMU secured a victory after a significant run in the second half.

The hockey team will play Lake Superior State on Friday, February 7, at 7:07 PM. This marks their first meeting under coach Dave Shyiak. Last season, both teams split their series evenly. Notably, Sasha Teleguine is currently second in the conference with 13 goals.

Saturday's events include track and field participating in the WCW Tri-Meet and swim and dive hosting Lake Superior State for Wildcat Skins at 1 PM on Senior Day. Previously, both women's and men's swim teams performed exceptionally well at UW Green Bay meet with multiple victories and records set by Mia Strazny, Becca Burrows, Leo Nolles, and Wyatt Dickman.

The women's basketball team will then take on Wayne State at 1 PM on Saturday. Their last encounter ended narrowly with a one-point loss despite Sarah Newcomer's leading performance for NMU. Jaci Tubergen clinched victory for Wayne State with a late three-pointer.

Following that game, the men's basketball team will face Wayne State at 3 PM after previously falling short against them due to an impressive performance by Rob Lee Jr., who scored a career-high of 40 points.

Finally, women's wrestling will compete against Grand Valley State in a dual match at 6 PM. In their last dual meet debuting Vandament Arena, NMU triumphed over Titans with standout performances by Mickaela Keane and Kailyn Garrett securing wins by fall early in their matches.
