The NMU men's and women's nordic ski team concluded its opening weekend of conference skiing with a mixed freestyle relay event. The 'NMU 1' team secured first place in the competition.
Teams were composed of four skiers, two women and two men, each skiing one leg of the course to achieve a combined total time. The winning team included Henriette Nilssen, Kristoffer Karsrud, Victoria Dybwad, and Luke Fricker. They finished first among 13 teams with a time of 50:59.4.
Nilssen started the race for the 'Cats with a leg time of 14:12.7. She was followed by Karsrud who completed his leg in 11:25.3, Dybwad in 13:18.4, and Fricker finishing in 12:03.1.
Michigan Tech 1 and Michigan Tech 2 teams claimed second and third places respectively.
Northern Michigan's second team, consisting of Jordan Parent (14:44.2), Jonathan Clarke (12:05.2), Ella Niznik (14:30.5), and Adrik Kraftson (11:52.5), finished seventh with a total time of 53:12.3.
After a successful weekend, the team's focus will now shift to early February when they travel to Duluth, Minnesota for the College of Saint Scholastica CCSA Invite on February 1 and 2.
